QR Code Workflows
Assign QR codes to pallets, items, lots, and locations.
QR codes bridge the gap between your digital inventory and your physical floor. Print, assign, scan, and track — all from a mobile device. No special hardware, no expensive scanners, no proprietary labels.
Every QR code in CatOps has a full assignment history. When inventory depletes, reassign the QR code to new stock. Print custom QR sheets with editable titles and quantities. Make floor-level adjustments by scanning instead of walking back to a computer.
Most beverage operations either skip QR/barcode entirely (relying on paper and memory) or use expensive proprietary scanner systems. CatOps gives you the same capability using the phones your team already carries.
Capabilities
Mobile scanning
Scan from any phone or tablet camera — no special hardware required.
Open the CatOps scan page on any device with a camera. Point at a QR code and the record loads instantly. Works on iOS, Android, and any modern browser. No app install required.
Assignment tracking
Full history of every QR code assignment, with reassignment after depletion.
Every QR code knows what it has been assigned to over time. When a pallet is depleted, the QR code is freed for reassignment. This means you can reuse physical QR labels, reducing cost and waste.
Printable QR sheets
Generate printable QR sheets with editable title, subtitle, size, and quantity.
Need 50 QR codes for a receiving batch? Generate a print sheet with a custom title, subtitle, and QR size. Print on standard paper or label stock. No need for a dedicated label printer or special software.
Floor adjustments
Make inventory adjustments directly from a scan — no walking back to a computer.
Scan a pallet, see current stock, and adjust quantities right there. Move inventory between locations by scanning the source and destination. This eliminates the biggest source of errors in paper-based systems: transcription.
Receiving at point of scan
Assign receiving dates and information the moment material hits the dock.
When a truck arrives, scan incoming materials and log the receipt immediately. Assign vendor, lot, quantity, and location before the pallet even leaves the dock. No more receiving logs that get entered later — it is done in real time.
Pallet-level tracking
Assign QR codes to pallets for fast pallet-level lookups and movements.
Scan a pallet QR to see every item on that pallet, current location, and full movement history. Move a pallet by scanning it and then scanning the destination location. This is dramatically faster than looking up a pallet by ID in a spreadsheet.
QR print batch management
Generate and track batches of QR codes for organized deployment.
Create a print batch for a specific product or receiving run. Track which QR codes were printed together, when, and by whom. Reprint lost or damaged codes from the original batch.
Assignment history
See every assignment change for every QR code over time.
When was this QR assigned? To what? By whom? Every assignment and reassignment is logged. This history is valuable for audit trails and for resolving discrepancies.
Why CatOps is different
Vs. Spreadsheets
Spreadsheets cannot scan QR codes. You can enter a QR code value manually, but that defeats the purpose. CatOps turns every phone into a scanner, making the production floor faster and more accurate.
Vs. Proprietary Scanner Systems
Traditional scanner systems require dedicated hardware ($300-$800 per scanner), proprietary label stock, and IT maintenance. CatOps uses the phones your team already has. Total hardware cost: zero.
Vs. Other Beverage Software
Some beverage software offers barcode support but not QR code generation and print sheets. Others require a separate scanning app. CatOps integrates QR generation, printing, scanning, and assignment tracking into one system.
How this reduces labor and errors
Pallet lookup
Find pallet by searching spreadsheet by ID or location number
Scan pallet QR code, full record loads in 2 seconds
Inventory moves
Write move on paper log, enter in spreadsheet later, hope it is accurate
Scan pallet, scan destination location, done. Move recorded instantly with timestamp and user.
Receiving
Unpack, write receiving log by hand, enter into spreadsheet at end of day
Scan each item as it comes off the truck, receipt logged in real time with photo
Floor adjustments
Walk to computer, find item in spreadsheet, enter adjustment, walk back
Scan QR on the floor, enter adjustment on phone, done in 30 seconds
Common Questions
Do I need special scanning hardware?
No. Any device with a camera and a browser can scan QR codes in CatOps. This includes iPhones, Android phones, tablets, and even laptops with webcams.
Can I print my own QR labels?
Yes. The built-in QR print sheet generator lets you create printable sheets with custom titles, subtitles, sizes, and quantities. Print on standard paper or label stock.
Can QR codes be reused?
Yes. When inventory depletes, the QR code is freed for reassignment. The full assignment history is retained, so you can always see what a QR code was previously assigned to.
